We play for many different weddings
Including all Christian denominations, civil, humanist, Muslim, Hindu and are very happy to discuss your wishes for your special day.
Our pool of professional musicians gives us great flexibility and availability
We take bookings from 2 years in advance up to the last minute. To check our availability please complete the contact form and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Albamusica uses the finest conservatoire trained professional musicians to play at your event, we have a pool of excellent players in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
We can play your favourite song
Couples often ask if we can play particular songs that are special to them. We have a very large collection of arrangements of great songs from classical to pop, rock, film, traditional and more, so we are likely to have it already; however if not, we can make an arrangement especially for you, for a small extra fee.
We believe it is particularly important for the ceremony music to be exactly what you want so we will do our utmost to provide the right music which will make your wedding music personal to you.
We can suggest music for you
Some couples like help with choosing music; we have vast experience of playing at weddings so please do ask us for advice. Professional musicians, reasonable fees
We keep our fees affordable.
We are all conservatoire trained professional musicians with lots of experience but because we are not an agency, there are no extra fees for managing your booking, which keeps the cost down.
We have sales from time to time which will be advertised on the website homepage for a limited time and can involve a 5% discount.
We take bookings for 2 hours, 2.5 hours, 3 hours or longer if required, but we know that timings can change from time of booking to nearer the wedding so we can adjust if necessary.
There is no charge for travel expenses within 10 miles of Edinburgh.
Quartet, trio, duo, solo musician bookings are available
We have different groups of musicians that can suit your venue and budget. Some of these are described below, to give you an idea of the sound, as the space needed.
The string quartet is our most popular choice. It features two violins, viola and cello. The sound is rich and full, and is perfect for any size of wedding. Listen to the string quartet playing Pachelbel’s Canon
The string trio consists of violin, viola and cello. It is particularly suited to weddings in smaller venues. The sound has a lovely clarity, as well as being rich in tone. Listen here
A duo has two musicians so is very compact. Cello and harp is a particularly beautiful combination, we can also provide violin and cello or two cellos. Listen here
We also provide solo cello: the smooth mellow sounds of this instrument can be perfect for the ceremony. Watch here
A string player needs about twice as much room as a seated guest. For example, we need 4 chairs spaced out in a semicircle for a quartet, three for a trio, 2 for a duo.
We can play for any parts of your wedding
For most weddings we play for the arrival of guests to the ceremony, the ceremony itself and the drinks reception. Sometimes we also play for the meal.

We can play in a wide range of venues in Scotland and the north of England, both indoors and outside
We can play outside as long as there is shelter such as a gazebo or if there is an alternative inside arrangement for inclement weather.
Some famous places we have played in are Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, Edinburgh Zoo, the Botanics, Mansfield Traquair, House of an Art Lover, St Mary’s Cathedral, Prestonfield House, and the Balmoral.
Plus many more hotels and churches, community centres, ruined chapels, private marquees, even a farm, a pub, and beside a lake!
